House Help sentenced to 5 years in prison for putting Food in her private part before feeding a 5 month old Baby

A 25 year old house help has been sentenced to a five year jail term after she was found guilty of child abuse.

The Nanny, Catherine Mukoya had been accused of feeding a minor with fingers she had put in her private parts and nasal mucus.

The minor was a five month old child who was had been left within her care.

Senior Resident Magistrate Festus Terer described the offence as of a serious nature that deserves custodial sentence.

“In my discretion  as magistrate, I find the offence  grave and  inhumane ,therefore  the accused  person  is sentenced to  custodial  sentence  of five years,” Magistrate  Festus  ruled.

The court was told that the accused person had committed the offence in Fedha Estate on the 28^th of July 2022.

Child abuse is an offence punishable under Section 22.1 and 22.2 of the constitution and the Children’s Act.

The accused has been in the custody during the trial.
