The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday said over 170,000 polling unit results of the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections have been uploaded on its Result Viewing Portal.
During an appearance on Channels Television's Sunday Politics program, Festus Okoye, a National Commissioner of INEC, announced that the Bimodal Voter Registration System is being reconfigured for the upcoming governorship and state assembly elections.
However, any BVAS that was utilized for the Presidential and National Assembly elections will not have its data related to the conduct of those elections reconfigured if it does not push to the accreditation backend. Furthermore, the BVAS will not permit itself to be reconfigured or reset unless the complete data is pushed to the accreditation backend.
According to Okoye, the resettling of the BVAS for the governorship and state assembly elections is expected to be completed by Tuesday. He expressed confidence that by then, the results of all places where elections were held would have been sent to the accreditation backend.
While acknowledging the right of every Nigerian to protest, he emphasized that no political party would be granted access to the BVAS or the biometrics of voters. As the regulator of political parties, INEC will not neglect its fundamental duty to address the concerns of aggrieved parties.
