The ongoing tussle between the Federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities has left Nigerian students on the receiving end. In a news published by Vanguard News, a final year law student at the Benue State University, Soohemba Agatha Aker have sued both the Federal and state governments in court over the lingering ASUU strike. According to Vanguard, the final year law student sued President Muhammadu Buhari and the 36 state governors over alleged poor handling of the issues with ASUU.

In the lawsuit, Soohemba Agatha lamented that the strike have harmed her education life. She explained that she is filing the lawsuit on behalf of all students of public tertiary institutions currently affected by the nationwide ASUU strike. The final year law student of Benue State University also pleaded to the court to stop the salaries and allowances of Buhari, the 36 governors, and all other political office holders in Nigeria pending the final resolution of the strike.


Soohemba Agatha is also seeking the court to stop the salaries and allowances of all the Vice Chancellors as well as that of the striking universities and ASUU members. In the suit filed by her counsel who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume, the lady sought a quick resolution to the issue between ASUU and the Federal government.
