FG Opens Application for Laptop and Smartphone Loan Scheme: Six Requirements Nigerians Must Meet

The Federal Government has opened applications for its Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, giving eligible Nigerians access to smartphones, laptops and tablets through a consumer credit scheme.

The initiative, implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, aims to improve digital access and encourage the use of locally assembled digital devices.

To qualify for the programme, applicants must meet the following six requirements:

1. Provide State of Residence Applicants are required to select their current state of residence from any of Nigeria's 36 states or the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This information will be used for profiling and programme coordination.

2. Submit Employment Details Applicants must indicate their employment status, including whether they are salary earners, freelancers, self-employed persons, business owners, students, job seekers or NYSC members. Providing monthly income is optional.

3. Be Enrolled in an Eligible Digital Skills Programme The current pilot phase targets participants of the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme. Other recognised platforms include Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa and Genesys Tech Hub.

4. Choose a Device and State Its Purpose Applicants must select the device they wish to obtain—smartphone, laptop or tablet—and specify its intended use, such as learning, professional certification, remote work, freelancing, software development, business expansion or content creation.

5. Grant Verification Consent Applicants must confirm that the information they provide is accurate and authorise CREDICORP and its partners to verify their details before approval.

6. Indicate How They Heard About the Programme Applicants will also be required to state how they learned about the C.L.I.C.K.D. programme, with options including 3MTT, social media, friends or family, school, employer, Google Search or other sources.
