The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has pleaded with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities to return to the classrooms.
He said, “I must confess that I am very pained by the recurring disruption to our tertiary education system and I am using this Independence Day celebration to re-iterate my call for the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to return to the classroom while assuring them to deal with their contending issues within the limits of the scarce resources available. This administration has made appreciable progress in redressing these issues that have been lingering for over eleven years.”
The news headline has stirred mixed reactions among Facebook users, Read some of the reactions from Nigerians that come across the headline on Facebook:
1. A good leader will not borrow for infrastructure building but for Economic developement building and setting up companies for employment and for infrastructural developement
2. Borrowing for infrastructural development makes general sense in economics but not for our own peculiar environment where insurgencies have plagued. You have infrastructure and our people can't enjoy them, of what use. Rails shutdown, farmers can't farm and people can't travel freely.
3. What about the revenue generated from oil blocks and customs, including other sources?
